Roman and Williams designed the architecture and interiors for this ground-up family
residence. The project deepens a collaborative history with the homeowner, following
the design of a previous Manhattan apartment and multiple retail locations for her brand.
Inspired by Old World barns, the elongated, single-story structure bridges classical
restraint and contemporary living. Stone walls and a shingled roof evoke timeworn
masonry. The design is a study in considered living, planned around the family's
daily rituals.
The interior balances delicate details with strong lines. Spaces are shaped by sacred
geometries and Vitruvian proportions, with an emphasis on craft and materiality: custom
pewter-finished bronze doors, antique fireplace mantels, and a freestanding onyx bar in the
living room.
A dedicated home spa reinterprets the ancient bathhouse with an Arts and Crafts
sensibility, clad in pale-green tile and appointed with R.W. Atlas fixtures. The home is fully
powered by solar energy and built with a gray-water system. A testament to a holistic design philosophy, where architectural integrity, sustainable principles, and crafted detail coalesce into a singular spirit of place.
