ESTELLE MANOR

Costwolds

Roman and Williams executed the complete architectural and interior design for Estelle Manor, a 45-acre estate hotel in England's Cotswolds. The project involved restoring the property's Neo-Jacobean heritage buildings and creating 20 new structures—over 100 guestrooms, four restaurants, and a spa.

The centerpiece is the Grade II-listed Main Hall, built in 1904. The studio restored its hand-carved oak paneling and original stone fireplaces, designing 34 unique guest rooms, a library, living room, terrace, and three restaurants within this historic framework. Interiors draw from J.M.W. Turner's landscapes and 17th–18th century Orientalist paintings, layered with contemporary art and mid-century Italian furnishings.

The ground-up Eynsham Baths reinterpret Neoclassical and Roman aquatic structures through a minimalist lens. Victorian painter Lawrence Alma-Tadema's textural depictions informed the custom marble and stone elements. The spa is organized around a central, sky-lit tepidarium, flanked by a caldarium, plunge pools, and a pink-marble Hammam.

Continuing the estate's agricultural heritage, the Walled Garden integrates cooking, gardening, and living—a restaurant and 35 guestrooms. The central Glasshouse Restaurant, filled with plants and herbs, celebrates materials that evolve with use and time.
