The Director’s Chair is designers Stephen Alesch and Robin Standefer's reimagining of the classic X-chair. The solid hardwood frame is crafted for strength and marked by chamfered edges, carved notches, and hooved feet—signatures of Guild joinery. The seat and back are cut from heavyweight, hand-tooled leather for lasting comfort, while hand-forged metal hardware adds craftsmanship detailing. Referencing Japanese folding stools and historic field chairs, the Director’s Chair sits taller than the Reader Chair, pairing naturally with the Axis Table or standing alone as a striking accent.
