Created originally for his own personal use and incorporated into his collection after intense testing, Hitoshi Kato's donabes are hand crafted with clay mixed with heat resistant petalite. Petalite is a highly heat resistant material directly on the fire and let things sizzle.

Care Instructions: Season your donabe prior to use by filling your donabe with starchy rice water, bring to a boil, let simmer for 15 minutes, let your donabe cool completely, dispose of rice water, rinse and let your donabe dry for 24 hours before storing or use. Never let your donabe soak or remain wet for an extended period of time.

Each piece is individually handmade, and natural variations in color, texture, and finish are to be expected and celebrated.
