Featuring a floral, hand-crafted icchin drawing on its face, Naoki Asano’s dinnerware is a masterwork of pure porcelain marked by its subtly textured edges and milky, lustrous finish.

Every piece is made of porcelain the master Japanese ceramicist crafts himself at his small studio in Kutani, is individually wheel-thrown, sculpted, and finished entirely by hand. Using a thin tool with a needle-like point and his own signature mixture of kaolin and pottery stone, Asano paints a delicate, raised, three-dimensional pattern on the plate before firing it—an elaborate, time-consuming technique known as “icchin.
